Has anybody performed a shot like this?

Kinja'd!!!

My car is actually torn down into fun tiny pieces and would love to do something similar before reassembly. I have a two-bay garage and an older dslr camera + ways of elevating the camera as high and far away as possible + remote.

I would think you’d need a ~10-14mm lens for that.

I’ve got a 14-42mm which MIGHT do it.

The other one is an 80-300 so way too much.

It’s often a layered image, mount the camera up high, remote control it, but stack several images with more parts as you go so it’s not as much of a trip hazard.

Also, a 10-20mm (Sigma makes one, ask me how I know) might be able to do it, but you will get significant distortion all around the image at 10mm unless you’re shooting a massive landscape. I don’t even really touch my 10-20mm unless I want that distortion. It’s not like a fisheye, but the edges will be very significant.

i have a super small garage... like 10x20.. and with my 10-18mm i got this far.

didn’t do any post work, but you could probably make something cool work. your garage looks a lot cleaner than mine too lol

Maybe I will do this next time I take an engine out of a car for teardown. My workspace usually looks a bit like this anyways for the sake of organisation, just not so spread out.
